WEST MIDLANDS BASKETBALL LEAGUE

COMMITTEE MEETING – 1 DECEMBER 2009

The Minutes of the previous meeting were read over and signed as being correct.

  1. Matters Arising


      7.4 There has been no response to the suggestions for the Summer League 2010. Therefore plans will be made to play on Sunday afternoons at
      Leasowes School. Applications are requested from teams wishing to take part in this competition.

Following two recent incidents, Teams are reminded NOT to telephone members of the committee after 9.30pm at night!

2. Discipline (Mike Neal)

      2.1 Reference 071102 – H. Wilson (Coach, Aston Uni) is suspended for three games and fined £10 as from midnight 1 December 2009.

      2.2 Reference 071103 – P. Zakowicz (Aston Uni) is suspended for three games and fined £10 as from midnight 1 December 2009.

    3. Secretary (Andy Millington)

    1. A scoresheet for WM015 Blazers B V Churchbridge B has never been received. Blazers are fined £5.


  1. Referees (Keith Kershaw)

    1. A reminder that officials who have accepted games and then fail to turn up will be fined. I am getting a little fed up of some officials who are letting the League down.


4.2 I anticipate getting the January appointments out within
the next 10 days.

Competitions Committee

    Rose Bowl & K O Shield

    The draw for the 4th round of the Rose Bowl, and 2nd round of the K.O. Shield have been made and clubs will be informed of the games separately by the League Secretary. These games will be played w/c 24 January.

    Finals Day.

    This will be on Sunday 25th April 2010 at Great Barr Leisure Centre. The K O Shield will tip-off at 14.15, and the Rose Bowl at 16.15.

    League fixtures

    WM-091. Shropshire Warriors v Stoke. Cancelled by Stoke at less than 7 days. Match awarded to Shropshire Warriors 20-0.No point to Stoke.

    The following games have now been re-arranged. The fixtures agreed by clubs & inserted into match schedule

    Secretary report) The fines are now increased to £22.50 & MUST be paid immediately

6. Appeals Secretary (Tony Johnson)

6.1 I have not received any Appeals this month

      6.2 Table Course. I have not received any details regarding the planned Table Officials’ course for Jan 2010 from Rebecca.

6.3 Club Table Officials

      It would seem that a number of team secretaries have not read the Minutes for September, so were not aware of the fines imposed on their club.
      I have since received names for Table Officials from the following teams:

Lordswood

Wolves CC

Wolves Slam

      In accordance with the minutes of November these teams do not have to pay the imposed fine


      The following teams received poor Table Officials score during October.

      Aston Uni received a D for WM018

Aston Uni received a C for WM32

B’ham Uni Medics received a D for WM038

7. Any Other Business

    7.1 Summer League 2010.

      The Summer League will take place at Leasowes Sports Centre on a Sunday from 16.00-18.00 commencing 2 May 2010. A maximum of 12 teams will be
      accepted. Applications MUST be with the League Secretary by 28 February 2010. Costs will be dependant of the number of teams entered & will be calculated at a later date.

    8. Date of next meeting

    The next Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th January 2010 in room 45 at Leasowes Sports Centre, Kent road, Halesowen at 6.30pm prompt.
